ON OUR TABLES:
From our Holiday Prize Table
Web of Power (led by K-ban) Classic 2000 Michael Schacht area control/influence , drafting and network building game that has been rethemed/revised as China, Han and Iwari. Players struggle for influence over regions of Europe by placing two different types of control markers, Monasteries and Advisors. Monasteries are the basic placement, with the goal of securing a majority in a region or chain of monasteries or even decent points from second place. The placement of the Advisors is more restricted as the total number of Advisors in a region is limited by the majority player’s number of monasteries. The game is played in two rounds and is very fast paced.
Chomp (led by Chris)  2023 twenty-minute opener/closer where players collect, assemble and feed dinosaurs making sure their herbivores don’t get chomped.
Roll Through the Ages – the Bronze Age (led by Sean) 2008 Matt Leacock (Pandemic, Forbidden Island/Desert/Jungle/Sky) roll & write where players roll dice to obtain commodities and workers to build up their civilizations. Dice can be rerolled twice unless they come up as a hazard. Players use their workers to build infrastructure to support additional works or to build monuments that are worth points. At the same time, commodities are gathered that allow your civilization to develop. Once all monuments or five developments are achieved by a player, the game ends at the end of the round, points are counted, and a victor is declared.
Valdora (led by K-ban) 2009 Michael Schacht pick up and deliver, set collection and drafting game. Those who enjoy the challenge of logistics and optimization will especially take to the puzzle-like challenge that Valdora offers. The page-turning book of orders is something fresh and creates additional interest
Other Games Played
Flip 7 (led by Armando) 2024 push-your-luck card game where players flip over cards one by one without flipping the same number twice. It is the self-proclaimed ‘greatest card game of all time’ (says so right on the box….so it must be true, right?)
Res Arcana (led by Zach) 2019 resource and production management game that rewards combos where players are mages competing for power. Each mage starts with a few components, called Essences in the game, and a handful of artifacts. By crafting artifacts and summoning creatures each mage develops their resources and then strives to take control of famous monuments and places of power. The theme is about medieval alchemy but also draws ideas from antiquity and fantasy.
Deadly Dowagers (led by Armando) 2023 closed drafting card game of marriage, murder and money, where players are ladies competing with the other lovely ladies in their town by strategically growing their dowries, while being careful not to gain too much infamy, or the duke may pass them over for another bride!
Rainbow (led by K-ban) 2024 single deck quick playing hand management card game from Japan. Players play solo cards, sets, or runs to win points on cards in the center of the table. The cards that were played in the previous round are the NEW points available to win in the next round. Most points at the end of the game wins! The game is getting good buzz and made it to #1 card game of 2024 on multiple top 10 YouTube videos.
Rolling Realms Redux (led by Zach) 2024 roll & write where players compete to earn the most stars over 3 rounds in a series of minigames. (There are 12 different “realms” included in the game. Each turn, one player rolls 2 dice, and all players use the dice results on their realm cards to generate resources and earn stars.  The new realms are themed after popular games. After 3 rounds, the player with the most stars wins!
